The Next Chapter Advisory · Private 1:1
You’d leave your current career tomorrow if you knew what you’d do instead.
You’ve built a career. You know what you’re capable of. But when you try to picture a different future, your experience keeps handing you variations on the one you have.
We work together to find possibilities worth investigating—and gather enough information to make a decision you trust.
Talk With Me About What’s NextYou don’t need a career idea before we talk.
You’re good at your job.
That doesn’t mean it’s all you’re good for.
You’ve spent years building expertise. It can be surprisingly hard to see where else it belongs.
We look at what you want to keep using, what you’ve outgrown, and possibilities your résumé wouldn’t suggest.
You don’t need to arrive with ideas. Finding them is part of our work.
How we work
Give your decision a stronger foundation
Some questions need reflection. Others need information you don’t have yet. We work out which is which, then take the next useful step.
Understand
Get specific about what you’re leaving, what you want to keep, and what your next chapter needs to make room for.
Uncover
Look beyond familiar titles. Follow the patterns in your experience, interests, and ideas—including the ones you’ve quietly ruled out.
Investigate
Find out what a possibility actually involves. Separate what you know from what you’ve assumed, and identify the questions that matter.
Test
Use conversations, research, and small experiments to learn what thinking alone can’t tell you.
Decide
Compare credible possibilities against the life and work you want. Understand the tradeoffs before you choose.
Move
Work out the next practical steps, drawing on what you’ve learned and what you already bring with you.
We use this as a map. You may arrive halfway through, return to an earlier question, or spend longer investigating one possibility.
Where we begin
The first month starts with you.
We look closely at what’s brought you here: the work you’ve outgrown, the parts you still want to use, the ideas that keep resurfacing, and the constraints a good next move needs to respect.
I listen for patterns, ask questions, and help you examine conclusions you may have been carrying for years.
- What needs to be different—and what’s worth keeping?
- Which possibilities deserve a closer look?
- What could you find out before our next conversation?
The aim is to leave the vague loop of “What else could I do?” with specific possibilities and questions we can work on.
Working together
Two conversations a month. Useful work between them.
Each session builds on what you’ve noticed and learned. Between conversations, we identify manageable things to explore, find out, or try.
We continue while the work is useful, from exploring possibilities through making a decision and beginning to act on it.
- Sessions
- Two private 60-minute sessions each month
- Investment
- $1,500 per month
- Duration
- Month-to-month. No fixed program length.
A few practical questions
Before we talk.
What if I don’t have any ideas yet?
That’s a useful place to begin. We can start with what you know about your work and life, then look for possibilities you haven’t had a way to see.
Can we work together while I’m still employed?
Yes. Much of this work can happen before you leave. We can investigate possibilities and think through a transition with your current responsibilities in view.
How long does the work take?
That depends on the decision and what you need to investigate. The Advisory is month-to-month so the duration can follow the work, rather than a preset finish date.
What if I can’t meet during the day?
That’s fine. Many of my clients are working. I have availability on certain evenings and select weekend days, so we can look for times that fit.
I’m planning a vacation, but don’t have dates yet. Is that a problem?
A week or two away is something we can plan around. Let me know when you have dates, and we’ll work out session timing together. Your next chapter doesn’t require cancelling the rest of your life.
How do I know this will work?
Look for what changes in your thinking and actions: possibilities you can now see, assumptions you’ve checked, questions you’ve answered, and steps you’re able to take. I can’t promise a particular career outcome. We can be specific about what we’re working toward and whether the work is helping.
I’ve tried other coaches and methods. What would be different?
We’d start by looking at what you tried and where it stopped being useful. My work follows the decision you’re facing: asking different questions, noticing patterns in your experience, and investigating what an idea would actually involve. We can discuss what that would look like for you before you commit.
I want different work, but I can’t earn less. Am I being unreasonable?
Your income requirement belongs in the decision from the beginning. We’ll look at what possibilities could meet it, what you’d need to learn about the numbers, and how timing affects your options. We may find tradeoffs. Wanting different work doesn’t make your financial responsibilities disappear.
What happens in the first conversation?
We talk about the decision you’re facing, where you’re getting stuck, and what you’d want help with. We use that conversation to decide whether working together makes sense.
Start with the part you haven’t figured out.
Tell me what you’re ready to leave, what you keep considering, or what you can’t quite put into words yet. That gives us somewhere to begin.
